Salem City Council has approved the second reading, Dec 4
2023, of the Salem Transportation Plan amendment linking Colorado Drive through the Titan Hill development to Doaks Ferry Road. The West Salem Neighborhood Association offered testimony not opposing a collector street as long as it met the American with Disability Act (ADA) slope requirements. We offered two possible alignments that would meet ADA requirements demonstrating that this was indeed possible. The current collector alignment as approved allows for a 12% slope not meeting current city Transportation System Plan codes and rules. Additionally, it is unclear that this approved alignment by City Council will meet the Federal ADA requirements.
